The Skills for Chefs Award 2008
At the conference a number of chefs will cook in a competition environment to have the chance to win trophies and prizes to be awarded at the conference dinner.
Two competitions will be held :-
Senior Chefs
This competition is open to chefs over the age of 21.
Young Chefs
This competition is open to chefs between the ages of 18 and 21.
All finalists will be allocated a full A rate delegate place at the conference.
At this stage the full details are not available.
However,finalists are likely to be asked to produce two covers of a main course dish with the main ingredients specified in advance.

The Winner of the Skills for Chefs "Senior" Competition was Gareth Evans from Cwtch Restaurant.

Nigel Crane from Essential Cuisine,Gareth Evens and Andy Farren from Cherry Valley.
Skills for Chefs Award Winner 2008The Winner of the Skills for Chefs "Young Chef" Competition was Gordon MacGregor from Murrayshall House Hotel.
Nigel Crane from Essential Cuisine,Gordon Murdoch and Andy Farren from Cherry Valley
Both winners had to create a dish that featured "Leaping Duck" and a product from Essential Cuisine.

The winner of the special achievement award sponsored by City and Guilds was Jordon Murdoch from Rotherham College.
